Stopover in Murwillumbah

The flight from Auckland to Gold Coast was great. I had a seat next to the window and watched the dawn for ages because we started shortly before sunrise and flew west. When we arrived at Gold Coast Airport we catch up with our friend Becky. We know her from the citrus farm where Yen and me worked before. Her home is in Murwillumbah close to the airport. She organized that I could storage my bike box so I didn’t need to assemble my bike. That was good then after New Zealand I was not that keen to cycle in Australia again and there are also things to do without the bike.

Becky drove us around in her car. We visited her friends and family. Her Dad took us on his boat on the Tweed River. It was my first time I’ve been on a boat like this and we went snorkelling, I haven’t done it since I was a child. It was good fun. Another day Yen and I went with a canoe on a creek. One morning Becky drove us to Mt Warning, we had to get up at 4 am because we wanted to see the sunrise. From the parking we had to walk one and half hour in the dark, we used torches to see the way. It was a nice little adventure because I never hiked in the dark before. From Mt Warning you got a superb view but this morning was cloudy. However we could see the morning light and colors, the sun showed up shortly.

It was a wonderful week with Becky and her friends, she is a great host and made our staying in Murwillumbah memorable.
